The BBC
Great British Village show
Summer 2006
During the hot summer of 2006 the BBC decided to make a television series called the Great British Village Show, with Alan Titchmarsh, James Martin and Angelica Bell. They presented a series of 6 regional heats held around the country, the South West heat was held at Montacute House, near Yeovil, Somerset. Sally Ann was persuaded to enter the two cake classes and walked away with 1st prize for her rich fruitcake and decorated novelty cake. This success put her through to the National Finals which was held at Highgrove House, where Prince Charles took a very keen interest in all the proceedings, particularly trying all the fruitcakes. Sally Ann was successful in achieving the status of National Runner Up in both classes.
